RE: Your complete incompetence

If you are going to attempt traffic control to get 50,000 people out of the downtown area, directing cars down a dead-end road is not the way to do it.

It was very easy for those who wanted to get onto I-24 West to do so.

However, attempting to get onto I-24 East was met with nothing but detours. There was no way to get where we needed to go unless you were in the actual LP Field parking lot.

THEN, in trying to travel down 10th Avenue, you forced the traffic to turn left onto Davidson Street.

I tried to motion to you that:

a) I was lost.

b) This road was a dead end.

Only to be screamed at by you that you had no time to give directions and to move on! You scared my 7-year-old daughter, arsehole.

So once we all ended up in Shelby Park, I called good ‘ol 862-8600 and a wonderful dispatcher talked me through how to find my way back to the interstate. He was the redeeming factor of my commute last night.

Still, I had to get on I-24 West and go around to I-65 South to I-40 West to I-440 East to get back to I-24 East toward the Southeast side of town.

By the way, to the cop who directed us the wrong way: When you started seeing all of the (probably hundreds) of cars you sent that way coming back by you, perhaps that should have clued you in that you were doing something wrong.

But no…you are a Metro Police Officer. You can’t be wrong about anything, can you?

Your arrogance showed last night.

You failed miserably at serving and protecting.

I hope you get a flat tire.

  1. And, to think I thought it was just our police that are rude to the public…

I have posted about my run in with the law where one of them called me an effing idiot.

  2. I try not to leave my house when we have home games because the police close the most ridiculous roads. Last night I didn’t have a chance – traffic was already screwed when I was heading home from work.

I try to be as understanding as possible – I know these people hear excuses all day long and take abuse from citizens, but yelling at innocent people is in no way going to improve the public’s opinion of the police. Was there something in the water last night? Jerks.

  3. Dang it, I knew there was something I forgot to tell you. Generally, when leaving the parking lot, I’ll go straight even though everyone else seems to be turning left. From there, it’s a straight shot to the 24/40 junction (although you have to merge rather quickly).

I hate when cops yell. I know they have a tough job (and they’re probably not happy to be on traffic duty), but there’s just no excuse for that.

  4. Ugh. On the 4th, we were parked over at the stadium. They were directing us away from the bridge, not letting people go back across, even though cars were coming the other way. Took us forever to find a way back over the river that wasn’t being directed the other way.
