Randomness…and Storing Up for a Rainy Day

I haven’t posted much in the past few weeks. Life has had me running a mile a minute with little time to breathe.

What’s been up with GingerSnaps?

In a nutshell, two very dear people had major surgeries within a week of each other. Lintilla is an AMAZING woman, folks. She has inspired me so much with her strength, sense of humor, and plain old spunkiness that has her healing so incredibly well from her surgery. It’s gonna take time to get back to 100%, but she’s well on her way! Plus, they got all of the cancer and she’s going to be fine!!!

Then, my beloved hippie lawyer Bossman had major, and I mean MAJOR surgery a couple of weeks ago. We had a lot going on with end of the year stuff at work, and add to that how much I was worried about him and praying and just hoping the doctors would do everything they needed to do easily, and that he would not be in too much pain, etc., etc., etc…well…it just really had me in knots.

He’s doing very well, and the doctors said that the surgery turned out even better than they had hoped for! I’m so glad. He’s such a trooper. Those first few days after surgery were pure torture for him. He sounds better and better everyday. He’s truly a fighter. I’m so proud to work with him and count him as friend.

My daughter continues to have these spells where she breaks out into unexplainable hives. It isn’t the cat, because she’s breaking out even when she’s away from home. I have been doing the trial and error method of ruling out what could be causing it. I’ve even wondered if she developed an allergy to chocolate. We’re still trying to figure it out.

I got to go see family (aunts, uncles, cousins) up in Kentucky a couple of weeks ago, and had a wonderful time. I visited my sweet Aunt Virginia and brought her some Skyline Chili and just sat around the table and talked. I could talk to Virginia for hours. She gave me some good advice for which I am determined to heed. She said, “When you turn 40, it is time to really start taking good care of yourself.” I believe her. My body has changed so much in the past couple of years, and I can tell that if I don’t start being more conscientious of how I care for myself (physically and emotionally), I won’t be around for an 82nd birthday, like Aunt Virginia!

Christmas was fun. Amanda’s daddy and his partner came down and we did Christmas morning all together and I made them lunch. It was truly enjoyable and I know that Amanda was so happy that the ones she loves the most are able to put aside our differences, share time with her and get along…and even have fun. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

So, today, I am enjoying a day off, getting the Christmas decorations put back up in the attic. I put it all back up there myself-even the 7′ Christmas tree! I am woman, hear me roar!!!!

I’m enjoying the quiet and solitude. Well, with Milkshake, that is. He is the sweetest cat!!! In the mornings, he will sit at the end of the bed until I wake up…he doesn’t disturb me until then. He loves being close to me. In fact, as I type this, he is sitting in my lap purring. I am so glad we adopted him from the Sarcastros…even if he does love to steal other people’s milk.

I haven’t been reading a lot on the blogs in the past few weeks. I’ve been skimming through my feed reader to keep up with the latest happenings, but nothing much in depth that could get me riled up. I did read Slarti’s post today, and then Mack’s…and I can say that I’m on the same wavelength as both of them. For my own emotional wellness, I just need to concentrate on getting my house in order and being at peace. As I commented over at Mack’s place, I’m trying to get my own, personal sheite together and gear up for a POSITIVE 2008…it’s gotta be, cuz ‘07 was the Year of the Suck in many ways…for myself and SO many of my friends.

So yeah…I’m gonna choose to be positive…not have my head in the clouds or turn a blind eye to what’s happening in the world and the changes that need to be made…but maybe, just maybe if I take some time to focus and get motivated, I can store up a lot of positive energy for when the storms start raging again…

  1. That whole putting aside differences thing…..
Ginger, that is so cool. I know you have an awesome Source of Strength, but still, it is really a wonderful thing that you were able to do that for your daughter. What a great mom!

  2. So glad you had a good holiday! I really hope Amanda is NOT allergic to chocolate!!!

  3. My girl and I are allergic to cold weather…have you had her scratch tested to see the things she reacts to?

  4. Yeah, seriously, get her a patch test/scratch test/whatever it’s called. It’s a lot faster and more definitive than trial and error. As for the rest of it, I think you’ve already found the solution that works for you. I hope your 2008 will be a good one.

  5. Squeegee Monkee used to have terrible allergies. The patch test helped.
Happy Holidays, Ginger. Have a good weekend.

  6. Any chance she’s just having stress hives?

  7. I’ve actually thought about that…also, the cold weather thing… *sigh*

It’s really frustrating not knowing. :(
