It was worth waiting for…
Almost 2 years ago, I wrote about a feud that started with my neighbor about a rooster their grown son got as a Mother’s Day prank. The rooster became a public nuisance, especially when it chased my daughter and her friend around my back yard one day not long after I had major surgery, and so I ended up calling Animal Control to see if I could get them to put the animal back in their yard. To make a long story short, Animal Control tried to catch it and take it away, my neighbor came home while they were there, got furious with me for calling them, and…I kid you not…hasn’t spoken to me in almost 2 years.
Yesterday evening, I was getting in my car, and she called my name. She asked if she could talk to me for just a minute…I said yes…
“Ginger, I have been a terrible person. I want to be a better Christian. I am very sorry for the way I have acted. Would you forgive me?”
My heart filled up, my eyes filled up…of course, I said “Absolutely.”
Lord knows I have been a horse’s patoot more than a few times in my life, and have needed forgiveness myself…how could I not extend that same forgiveness to her that I hope for myself?
It showed amazing character on her part to swallow her pride and come back to try & resolve the conflict.
I gladly forgive her and look forward to our neighborly friendship continuing right where it left off almost 2 years ago.
I am thrilled!

That’s wonderful, Ginger. You’re right that it took a lot of courage for your neighbor to do that. Very cool.
That’s both beautiful and inspiring. Thanks for sharing that.
how wonderful! Our anger just holds us captive. I am thankful that she is standing free today.
Wonderful!
Y’all both went to sleep last night grinning like possums, didn’t you? And slept so soundly.
The good Lord just drops the most amazing things in our laps when we’re wandering around not paying the slightest attention. And it makes us appreciate His gifts, large and small, all the more for just a little while, until we start wandering around again …
Joyous hugs to you and Miss Sweetie, today and every day! And the Neighbor Lady, too!
Awesome! You always share the greatest things
.
That is awesome!

Holding onto a grudge hurts the grudge holder way worse than the grudgee, me thinks.
It’s freeing, isn’t it?
But what happened to the Rooster?
Time heals all wounds. Glad you two mended fences.
Grace is the only thing that will save us, on pretty much any level. Kudos to your neighbor for courage, and kudos to you for forgiving.
great story..
That is lovely and encouraging.
That’s good to hear. Me being so emotional, I got teary eyed too.
