Sunday Night Randomness

Here we are at the official end of the holidays…tomorrow it’s back to the grindstone.

My grindstone will be a bit different.  Rather than going back to the office, I will be getting Amanda up and off to school and then back home to work on finding a job.  For me, that consists of sending my resume out to as many job listings as I can find that fit what I’m looking for.

I also am going to spend a few hours each day getting my house in order.  I have kept years worth of bill stubs and paperwork that can be shredded.  I’m in the mood to start minimizing my possessions and to start simplifying my life.  Since I have time on my hands, I’m going to take advantage of it and get on it.

Turnbaby, Brad, GingerI was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Turnbaby and Mr. Fab for lunch on Saturday!  They were passing through town on their way back home from a visit to Memphis. We had a wonderful time meeting face to face for the first time…and I could have talked to them for hours!  I definitely forecast a massive Karaoke fest happening in the future with these two.  I’m thinking a little Dave & Sugar “The Door Is Always Open”…yeah.

Meanwhile, Amanda returned home tonight after being at her Daddy’s for a week and a half!  I was SO happy to have my Baby Boo home!  I honestly believe she grew while she was gone.  She is taller.  Soon, I’m going to be looking up at her to tell her to go to her room, no kidding!

She watched “Mama Mia” while she was at her dad’s, and since I now own it — my dear friend, Amber, got it for me for Christmas-yay!!! — Amanda wanted to watch it with me tonight.  So we watched it in “sing-along” mode.  We had a blast singing along with all of the ABBA songs!  Two things Amanda said during the movie that I really got a kick out of:  “I’m glad that one of Sophie’s dads is gay in the movie.” and “I think this is my favorite musical of all time…even better than ‘High School Musical’!”

1984 DCS Concert ChoirI am having the best time reconnecting with my high school friends on Facebook!  Recently, I scanned this picture, and the flood of comments and memories that it prompted was just hilarious.  (By the way, I suppose I’m fairly easy to pick out in this picture, right?)  :)

Others have been posting old pictures, and we are all getting a great laugh at our own expense…especially with the thin silk ties, Members Only jackets, and all kinds of 80s nostalgia.

Finally, it’s the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Titans next week.  I was really cheering for the Dolphins to win today, not only because I did not want to see us play Baltimore, but because I was a DolFan long before there ever was a Tennessee team.  Alas, Miami just didn’t have it in them today.  Still, they had an amazing turnaround this year compared to last, and deserve a major amount of credit for that.

Let’s hope The Stache can get the Titans geared up to face the Ravens Saturday…it’s going to be a tough game, but as good as they looked against the Steelers, I believe…oh yes, I still believe.

  1. So many good things in this post. Thanks for sharing what’s going on.

  2. Being a Buffalo fan, I’m kinda glad Miami didn’t win. I’m hoping Baltimore gives them a good game, because I love playoffs, but I’m rooting for your “boyfriend” and his team.

I’m happy Amanda’s back home and I wish you all the best luck with the job hunt starting tomorrow…

  3. Nice to see you smiling and hopeful :) .

  4. When I was batty over Flylady I remember her calling an hour a day on something a ‘blessing hour’ for the home. Or something like that. It’s been years since I subscribed and going back recently made my head throb (the site was cluttered, hahaha). I’m also into minimalising my ’stuff’ lately. Seems like every week there are a few more bags for Goodwill or Sally Anne and a few more bags of trash than usual.

  5. Great post. Good luck with the job hunt. Have a great week.

  6. Another beautiful post, Ginjy. May you find something WONDERFUL for your career!! And isn’t it exciting to be able to finally take care of home stuff that’s been buggin’ us?

I’m really glad you enjoyed MamaMia. I haven’t even been able to see it yet!

speaking of 80’s, remember Chess King? Hee.

  7. Brad and Turn are pretty awesome, although Brad will masturbate into your purse or pocket if you’re not careful. He’s sneaky like that.

  8. A.) I’m jealous. I love Mr. Fab.

  9. Good luck with the job quest!

  10. Awww that’s so sweet! We truly enjoyed meeting you and would have stayed a lot longer had we not had to get back—it’s like we all had known each other for years.

Good luck in the search –we’ll be sending all our good thoughts.

Plan on seeing us soon —Nashville will never know what hit it;-)

  11. And look! I FINALLY have you in my Reader*giggle*

  12. Oh and Adam is right ;-)

  13. Good luck on your job search and cleaning your house. I’ve spent the last few weeks throwing out some of the things I’ve accumulated over time and it feels so GOOD. :)

  14. We were floored by your complete awesomeness. Three hours is still too far apart. You’ll have to move up here.

Oh, and I’m gonna need the recipe to that potion you drink that makes you look 10 years younger than you really are. I could use some of that.

  15. Best of luck to you in your job search. I hope you land something truly awesome! I’ll be sending positive vibes your way.

I got a mad urge yesterday, and spent hours sorting papers into “toss” and “shred” piles. My desk area looks great now – for a few days.
