Credentialed Kid!

damon-weaverDamon did it!

Damon Weaver, the 10-year-old cub journalist from an elementary school in Florida, has scored his press credentials to cover the presidential inauguration as a roving correspondent.

The 5th grader has really made an impression as a great kid and talented reporter, even landing an interview with Vice President-Elect Joe Biden when he was in Damon’s area for a campaign rally last October.

Not only is he cute, he’s such an inspiration!

“My mother always taught me to never give up; to shoot for your dreams.  So, I never gave up about the press credentials and now I have them.” (WPTV.com)

His dream is to interview Barack Obama when he gets to Washington.

He says, “I still have hope and I think I will get the interview.  You always have to think positive.” (WPTV.com)

There are a lot of people writing in to Change.org on Damon’s behalf , as well as support from Dwyane Wade and Shawn Marion of the Miami Heat, who have offered to play one-on-one with Obama if he’ll give the kid an interview.  (However, they did not agree to let the President win.)

I’d be really surprised if this super kid journalist doesn’t get that interview.  Regardless, I’m looking forward to seeing his report from the inauguration next Tuesday!

  2. It’s always good to see somebody who’s passionate about something…that’s the kid who will grow up to be a star journalist.
